It's Levels to Leadership: Aaron Russell Interview
When it’s comes to leadership Mr. SCSU has that game on lock.
Aaron Russell is a Brooklyn, New York native who grew up in
Tampa, Florida currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on November
10, 1993 (Scorpio) and is the oldest child. He is also a first generation
college student.
Russell’s mother is Jamaican and his father is Trinidadian.
During Aaron’s time here at South Carolina State University,
he’s played the trumpet his very first semester of college. He was granted the position
of Mr. Honors College and active with the Toast Masters organization. He is
also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. The school year of
2014-2015 he served as SGA President, and this school year he was elected as
the 2nd Mr. South Carolina State University.
So as you can see leading and guiding his peers and
community isn’t a problem at all.
Russell supports the thought of Dr. Franklin Evans serving
as the President of South Carolina State University. Dr. Evans is currently the
interim president at the university. When and if needed, Russell has no problem
stepping up to the plate and acting as a voice and face for the student body.
Aaron has plans of owning a Strategic Management firm. As an
Economics major he says that the major isn’t hard but more so of a challenge.
He would also consider himself an abstract thinker.
He is also passionate about working with the youth,
especially black males. He feels that teaching them leadership qualities and
how making strong decisions is essential.
“You don’t have too many chances to make mistakes”. –Russell
That is also the very reason he wants to guide the youth to positive places.
