Wrapping up the Semester with Final Post :)

This Electronic Media Production II course has taught us how to use different social media outlets. As communications majors we will be using social media for almost every and anything that we do. Social media is a very effective asset to our society today. Keeping up and knowing how to use different and new ones as they come along is important because it maybe the only source that we will be able to find out our news one day; and everyone knows that news is a necessity. Below are the outlets that we discussed and what I've learned from each one listed and how it's helped me.

Twitter:
Twitter is a social media outlet that allows its users to "tweet" with 160 characters. You can tweet whatever you want. My username for Twitter is: JJacks_x. My last tweet was on Thursday April 28th, and I tweeted "Summer 16". I guess you can say I'm pretty excited for summer. Every major business uses Twitter because it's effective and reaches large audiences.. Quickly! What's not to love about that for any business company, big or small.

LinkedIn:
Linkedin is a site designed to helping its users network amongst different companies. It's a social site for businesses to seek employees and for people seeking employment to network as well. Users are able to customize their profile and add their resume for people who are interested. Young professionals need this site because it is fast, reliable, and it's benefitting for younger audiences dealing with school, work, etc. I love Linkedin. It's interesting and helpful at the same time. I recommend it to anyone!!

Prezi:
Prezi is a site that allows you to make unique presentations for class, work, or just for fun. I personally don't like Prezi as much as Powerpoint. I feel that Powerpoint is not as complicated as reuse. One you get the gist of Prezi, it becomes more interesting. What makes Prezi interesting and unique is the fact that is has so many awesome and creative templates that allow you to be just that, creative. I decided to do my Prezi presentation on my Top 10 favorite movies.

Vine:
Vine is a six second video recording app. In this class we were assigned to make two videos; one video was a one-word response video and the other was a humorous one. The first time I heard about vine was my senior year in high school in 2011; so working with the app again was fun.

Green Screen:
I really enjoyed the Green Screen project! I thought it was cool to take pictures in front of the green screen and  emerge my green screen photo with another of my choice (the red carpet photo) together. I've worked red carpet events before so I thought that it would be cool to place myself on one. This green screen effect can be used of fun if you're into editing pictures and like to incorporate personal images and to other ones that you see fit. This application can be used on a professional level because it is an easy way to make changes that may be needed for conventions, forums, presentations, etc. on a clean and professional level. To get details on before and after looks for this project, click the link here.

Kizoa:
Kizoa is an online movie maker, video editor and slideshow creator according to its website. It's really fun and easy to use! I really liked everything about it, especially how it fast it was to make my slideshow. The special effects feature is really neat and makes the final product creative. My Kizoa creation was a compilation of Bulldogs surfacing around the campus of South Carolina State University. I added music and transition effects to it to spice it up a bit. Super fun and very neat!

Jessica's Kizoa - Kizoa Video Editor - Movie Maker

Overall, I really enjoyed this course. There were a lot of interesting and new things that I learned about. One of my favorite discussions was the Kizoa one. I really like Kizoa. This course taught me how all of the outlets work in depth. I was familiar with all of the outlets we discussed except for Kizoa.

Bulldog Scavenger Hunt: Kizoa Edition

Jessica's Kizoa - Kizoa Video Editor - Movie Maker

In class we were assigned to do a Bulldog Scavenger hunt. I went around campus and took pictures of our school's mascot, the bulldog and made this cool Kizoa video! The song I used for this video is Ms. Jackson by Outkast. This was fun to make.

Hillary Clinton at SCSU

Hillary Clinton stopped by SCSU on February 26th to talk to the students at the University as well as the Orangeburg community and surrounding supporters.

Clinton is a Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Party for the 2016 Presidential elections.

Hillary's campaign team set up in Dukes Gymnasium on the campus and from there things start rolling.

Several Clinton supporters took the stage before she did. Some included:

Actress Star Jones
Singer K.Michelle
and Author and Entrepreneur Karen Civil.

James Clyburn was also one of the speakers and supporters who talked to the students. Clyburn is also a South Carolina State University graduate.

Hillary did win the state of South Carolina in the last round of votes.

It's Levels to Leadership: Aaron Russell Interview

When it’s comes to leadership Mr. SCSU has that game on lock.

Aaron Russell is a Brooklyn, New York native who grew up in Tampa, Florida currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on November 10, 1993 (Scorpio) and is the oldest child. He is also a first generation college student.

Russell’s mother is Jamaican and his father is Trinidadian.

During Aaron’s time here at South Carolina State University, he’s played the trumpet his very first semester of college. He was granted the position of Mr. Honors College and active with the Toast Masters organization. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. The school year of 2014-2015 he served as SGA President, and this school year he was elected as the 2nd Mr. South Carolina State University.

So as you can see leading and guiding his peers and community isn’t a problem at all.

Russell supports the thought of Dr. Franklin Evans serving as the President of South Carolina State University. Dr. Evans is currently the interim president at the university. When and if needed, Russell has no problem stepping up to the plate and acting as a voice and face for the student body.

Aaron has plans of owning a Strategic Management firm. As an Economics major he says that the major isn’t hard but more so of a challenge. He would also consider himself an abstract thinker.

He is also passionate about working with the youth, especially black males. He feels that teaching them leadership qualities and how making strong decisions is essential.

“You don’t have too many chances to make mistakes”.  –Russell

That is also the very reason he wants to guide the youth to positive places.

& the coolest social media outlet award goes to... PINTEREST!

Pinterest is a site where you can share photos and use as a resource for how to conduct things from the simplest to the most complicated.

There’s a feature on pinterest where you can post boards. A pinterest board is something that you’ll pin your interest too. Your pins are pictures of your choice and interest that pertain to the category of your board.

Three boards that I follow are Natural Hair, Quotes, as well as Diy projects. These are three boards that I can look at all day long without becoming bored at all.

Pinterest is a very interesting tool, enabling use of resourceful ideas. I love pinterest!!!

Tweetletweet and Tweetlethumb: Twitter Edition

Twitter is fun to and for me.  Aside from the enjoyment and entertainment that I get from twitter, I also find it very resourceful. If I ever need to find anything out in a hurry I can count on twitter for an update. With the click of a hashtag I can get updated on so much of what is going on.

I remember when I first started using twitter! I hated the fact that I could only use 140 characters per tweet. I’m used to it now but at least 200 words would be very convenient, lol. I created my first twitter account in 2009 and I’ve been tweeting ever since.

Jack Dorsey launched Twitter in 2006 with an intention of expanding the information that people needed to hear on a global level, well the plan most certainly worked!

I follow @CNN on twitter to stay updated on the latest news. I follow my mentor @Kamayapr because it is convenient for prospective clients to reach out to us for information pertaining to Public Relations. I also follow @hbcunews to stay updated on what’s going on at all of the HBCU’s! That is actually one of my favorite twitter accounts.

I recommend twitter for anyone simply because it’s so much you can get out of it. I think that it’s enjoyable for any and all.

Linkedin is In!

Linkedin is a professional social media network that allows for personal online networking for future careers, internships, and social gain.

This social media outlet is a great way to compliment and commend others on their work in a professional sense. It's like you can post all of your accomplishments, ideas, work and any volunteer experience, and of education.

I hope that by me creating my Linkedin site, I can gain and began to network with more students and people who have similar career path aspirations as such as myself. I would love to work with BET, VH1, MTV, etc.  I also wish for employers to see my hard work and dedication as a person as well as other skills that I possess.

The skills that one possess are essential because people you are looking to work with and under are able to see them on your account. These connections are also supposed to connect you with references that you may need, as well as colleagues.
